There
are plenty of companies out there who claim to do what
we do, but as one of the oldest sayings in the book
goes the
proof is in the pudding. Our Products and services have always been at the cutting edge of Mobile data technology and the bits you don’t see are far more important than the bits you do. Robustness is our key facet, and we don’t think you’ll find any other product as robust and cost-effective than ours
There
are companies out there that provide software to sit
on PDAs, and there are other companies out there
that provide back-office systems that communicate data
to PDAs via SMS or hot sync cradles, or e-mail,
or fax, or other spurious methods. However,
if you're looking at a seamless
data
transfer between your existing back-office
system and your remote workers, that updates either
end within a minute of instigating
the transfer of data, then youre looking
at a completely different solution
built on a completely different
set of rules, built on vastly different
software architecture.
If
youre seriously looking for a mobile data solution,
youll no doubt have read trade magazines, and
youll no doubt have seen endless adverts of software
suppliers using an image of a Compaq I-Paq (or something
similar) with some data on the screen and a signature
capture box with a signature in it.
These
adverts do not usually tell the full story and do not
usually offer an end to end solution. The questions
you need to ask are
- How
does the data on the PDA get back into my system
- Does
the software move the data in real time
- If
the software does move the data in real time, will
it move it back into my existing back-office system
or do I have to change back-office systems
- How
does the software move the data
- How
quickly and how efficiently does it move the data
- How
many jobs can it send to a PDA using 1MB of data?
- Do
I have to change mobile networks
- Will
the software work on any PDA I choose to use and on
any mobile network
- Is
the software at full release stage or is it still
a Beta version.
- How
long will it take to deliver the software and how
easy is it to implement
- Do
I get a bespoke PDA solution or is it an off-the-shelf
solution I have to make do with
- Am
I buying a total end-to-end solution or just part
of a solution
- Does
the product use 'push' technology, or does the PDA have
to collect data from a server?
- What happens if the PDA is allowed to power down. Do
I lose my application and all current data?
We
suggest you ask everyone else this sort of question
first, then come back and ask the same questions of
us.
We
know youll be happy with the answers.
